Last week we talked about Self-Awareness and I mentioned we would take it to the next level this week.  Enter Self-Acceptance.

Merriam Webster defined Self-Acceptance as the act of or state of accepting oneself.  The act of or state of accepting one’s own abilities and limitations.

Sounds similar to Self-Awareness, right?  So what I’m understanding here is that you can’t have one without the other.  To accept our abilities and limitations we have to first see and know them.

So what is it, really, to ‘accept?’

So, it’s kind of like “owning it” or becoming neutral with a side of “Hell yes!”

To try this on in a different way I want you to think about a baby or a puppy.

Think about them playing, drooling on you (or licking your face) with their baby breath, rolling over backwards and bonking themselves, pooping on your floor…

All normal baby/puppy stuff right?  We don’t expect them to be able to sit up or not poop on the floor – we accept them just as they are, we approve of their state, we endure their drool without protest – we even expect it.

Now think about yourself.

Ooh, I know, I had to go there!

Think about a part of you that just is.  Like you’re nose, or your hands, or your general body shape (no matter what you weigh).

Do you recieve your nose willingly?
Do you approve of your hands and the work they do for you?
Do you look in the mirror at your body shape without protest or reaction?

You can.

It’s possible to love yourself instead of loathing your parts.  It starts with the awareness and grows with the acceptance.

I am experiencing higher than normal call volume 😉 and have started a waiting list.  If you’re interested in working together soon or someday – get on the list. I will reach out to the waiting list with opportunities to work with me first, click here to join the club.
