I was listening to Alex Charfen’s podcast the other day and he said something that made my eye-brows go up.  (You know how they do that? Watch people when you are talking – if their eyebrows go up they are interested or intrigued…)

“Success is a journey.”

I don’t remember the context but I remember my reaction and it was like:  “Oh. OHHHHH.” The kind of knowing in your bones kind of “Oh!” that you don’t get everyday so you notice it when it happens…

He had just changed my mind.  Just like that.

I’m not going to a specific place, I’m on a journey.  It doesn’t end! AH-HA!

So when I am in the story that I need to achieve a certain thing (weight loss, perfect hair cut, certain financial goal) I actively promoting a lie with myself that:  When I get X then I will be successful!

Nope.

Successful is a feeling.  It is not a destination. You don’t arrive at feelings, you cultivate them with your thoughts.

So what thoughts create the feeling of success for you?

Here are a few options:

You see what I did there, I just made some up that make me feel good – all the way to any goal I want to set for myself.

I decided all those thoughts were true (which is optional), I decided to believe them (which is also optional), I decided to think thoughts that feel good to me, that help me because if it is all made up anyway, why not!

Success is a journey.  You get to decide if you’re going to wait to feel it until some magical destination arrives and is quickly behind you. Or you get to decide if you want to feel it wherever you go.

I choose the latter, I invite you to join me.

To OUR success!
