Did you notice this post was NOT in here on Sunday morning… I did. I actually look forward to these and even though they shouldn’t surprise me, because I write them, they do! I’m always like “Oh yeah!”
So, what happened? How did the thing I love and enjoy NOT get done?!
The same way anything you love and enjoy doesn’t get done:
- I didn’t get it on my calendar…
- I didn’t get it on a list…
- I stopped doing what was working…
Yeah, like that.
So, how can we take this example of something I enjoy and am even PROUD of NOT happening?
I like to say “Winning or Learning.”
So, what did I learn? If it doesn’t get on my calendar at this stage of my business, it doesn’t get done. I even talked about it with my assistant on Friday. My big plan was if I leave the tab open on my browser then I’ll remember to do it…
That’s like “If I leave the vegetables in the front of the fridge I’ll remember to eat them!
Yeah. No.
The nachos always win – why? Nachos have more swagger, more sex appeal… An open browser window is nice, like a container of spinach is nice – but it certainly isn’t a plan!
Do you do this? Do you leave your best intentions hanging out in plain sight and forget about them?
I know I’m not alone 😉 now you know you’re not alone either.
So what do we do? We do what we know will work.
In this case that means I put the blog writing back in the tuesday morning at 6am slot where it lived for 2 years. I loved that time. I loved the quiet, I loved that it was the first thing I got to do, I loved that the inspiration was always there waiting for me in the darkness at that dining room table. So, see you next week, for our regularly scheduled Sunday morning “Hello!” that I will write on Tuesday – not because it has to get done that day, or because a browser window was open – but because I love to do it and I have learned that’s when it loves to get done.
Be well friends, and know that you can Win or Learn too – it’s always an option.
