Momentum

When you get into the flow, when it all starts to happen – it happens fast.  That’s why it’s called momentum.

The work comes, life keeps happening, and you are still you.

It’s weird. Fast. Filled with ease… and it’s bigger than you. That might be the weirdest part.

You may be wondering, how do I create momentum?

You can feel the speed start to pick up. It’s exciting. The pace increases, the energy grows and it can feel daunting. It also feels like freedom, like flow.

How do you keep momentum once you have it?

Then, these small parts of you – the parts that want to control, containment, and understanding – start to grasp. They try to hold onto what they need to feel safe in the bigness you’re made for.

What if that means you’re doing it right?

What if all the signs that you’re losing control mean you’re onto something in the best way possible?

It is wild. It IS bigger than you.

What if you’re not meant to middle-manage your path but to get out behind it, reigns in hand, directing the energy and riding it at any speed?

The energy shifts. The way you’ve always done it isn’t the way you’ll do it now – not if you want to stay here and keep growing.

There’s discomfort in that but not the kind that means “stop.” It’s the kind that means “keep going.” It’ll get better, more comfortable, as you get more familiar.

In this space, your primary work is two fold: Keep Going & Release the Drag

“Keep Going” means to keep showing up – for yourself, for the work, for the tasks at hand – while taking care of you. Acknowledging who you are, what you need, and making room for you to be you (you got yourself here, surely you’re the right person for the job!).

“Release the Drag” means to cut out the things that slow you down, care for the parts that get nervous, tend to your real needs and get better at riding. Keep cutting out the things that take you away from you, slow you down, or create drag.

Hold those reins loosely, lean back a little. Keep going. And, don’t forget to release the drag and enjoy the ride.
